This Month We're Donating To: Defy Ventures

Every month, Kurly Klips is aiming to donate to organizations that help the Black community. This month, we're donating to Defy Ventures and entrepreneurship program that helps incarcerated men, women, and children start legal businesses upon release.  Tell me more about Defy! According to the ACLU, the US incarcerates 25% of the world’s population, even though as a country, we’re only 5% of the world’s population. Not only that, but while whites and blacks use drugs at the same rate, blacks are incarcerated 10 times more than whites for drug offenses.   It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see how mass incarceration...

Every month, Kurly Klips aims to donate to organizations that help the Black community. This month, we're donating to the Black Mama's Matter Alliance. Why? This Month We're Giving To: Flint Child Health & Development Fund

Y'all. DO YOU KNOW FLINT STILL DOESN'T HAVE CLEAN DRINKING WATER?!?!?! Yes, lead levels are allegedly safe, but some residents are reporting funky, nasty water still coming from their pipes. The city's water has been poisoning its residents for years, children being among the most vulnerable. According to CNN, lead exposure can cause brain damage in kids, which can lead to permanent neurological impairments, lower IQs, and behavioral problems, among other health effects.  Did we mention the city is 56% Black? Did we mention 41% of residents live under the poverty line?  And yet our government is over here talking about how...
