Every month, we highlight a superstar Kurly who is giving us serious hair envy. Meet Leah from Mequon, WI who owns two sets of the Shoulder Chic Fro. Find out how this African Explorer uses Kurly Klips as a way to glam up her adventures.
TELL US MORE ABOUT YOURSELF
I’m an African explorer and global servant. Born to Nigerian and Panamanian-American parents, I’ve traveled since childhood to see family. I currently live in Nairobi, Kenya and work as an independent consultant. When I’m not working, I’m traveling or dancing until the sunrise!
WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE KURLY KLIPS?
I got a sew-in when I was home for Christmas and got terrible tension bumps along my perimeter. Desperate for a protective style to shelter my hair from the abrasive cold Midwestern winter, I google alternatives to sew-ins. I stumbled upon Kurly Klips and purchased two boxes (they arrived just in time for my flight back to Kenya!) I also needed an easy option for traveling. After swimming or when my hair isn’t cooperating (i.e. in the hot humid streets of Zanzibar!) Kurly Klips is an easy way to go from “hot mess” to “Girl, YES!”
FAVORITE PRODUCTS TO USE ON YOUR KURLY KLIPS + WHAT'S YOUR CARE ROUTINE?
I’ve only used water + argan oil to moisturize the Kurly Klips. To cleanse, I soak them in water and Herbal Essence Conditioner. I don’t wear the clips daily, but - when my life is together - I store them in the box after moisturizing them. I am guilty of throwing them in a shopping bag, but this forces me to later have to detangle! Proper care and maintenance is worth it in the end!
ANY FAVORITE MEMORIES WHILE WEARING YOUR KURLY KLIPS?
My favorite memory is celebrating my mom’s birthday! Having lived away from home for almost a decade, it was great to be home with her - sharing and celebrating! I also enjoyed partying at the Sauti Za Busara Music Festival!
