**update: Hi Kurlies! Since this article was published in 2015, Cantu has changed their ingredients. We now recommend using the Curl Maker by Camille Rose.  For an updated care routine, please see our Care page! It's always up to date!

If you’ve been following Kurly Klips over the years, you know that I LOVE a big, undefined fro. However, I’ve been doing y’all a disservice by only showing you my preferences. The My Fro Collection from Kurly Klips is beyond versatile and you can achieve a variety of textures with the right styling products and tools. So, without further ado, Jasmin is back to share how she styles her Mermaid Fro into 3c curls.

Let me begin by saying  this video was totally not scheduled for this week. Needless to say, the response to Jasmin’s Two Strand Twist Blending Method was so overwhelming, both Jasmin and I decided to work our klips off to get it to you LOL.

As you’ll find out in the video, Jasmin says the key to definition is the brush. Without the proper brush, you won’t see these same results. Jasmin got her brush from a local beauty supply store for less than $5. If your brush isn’t detangling + defining well, consider purchasing another one for the sake of your hair extensions.

Some other important takeaways:

  1. Use the brush to define the curls.
  2. Never rake your hands through the hair once the curls have formed. This creates frizz, definition’s deadliest enemy.
  3. If you decide to use a diffuser to dry the hair, be sure it doesn’t blow around the curls. The goal is to keep the hair locked in that curl pattern until it is completely dry.

Here’s a list of the other products mentioned in this video. Most can be found in your local convenience and/or grocery store.

Recommended Kurly Klips products

  • Cantu Shea Butter for Natural Hair Conditioner
  • Cantu Shea Butter Daily Oil Moisturizer
  • Cantu Shea Butter Coconut Curling Cream

In the video, Jasmin says she repeats this process every two to three days. Yes, it is work, however she has kept her Kurly Klips for more than a year.

If this care routine is too exhaustive for you, try mine! What I like to do is refresh my Kurly Klips with a conditioner + water mix (I use Knot Today), and then twist them up at night. The result is a beautiful twist-out that looks particularly pretty on the second and third day. The gif below is more like a 5 day old twist-out… Yeah, I was pushing it, but c’est la vie!

So if you’re looking for a way to prolong your care routine, while keeping definition, try Jasmin’s method, followed by mine later on in the week. You might really like the results.

Just an aside, Jasmin has had her Kurly Klips for nearly two years! She’s learned these techniques through trial and error. So my gorgeous kurlies, PLEASE do not hesitate to experiment. If you’re not happy with the care routines we suggest, try making up your own. Feel free to incorporate some of the care regimens you see on YouTube from other naturals. Many of their techniques can apply to hair extensions as well.

And remember this: Kurly Klips is made from 100% authentic human hair. You know how some products work for your friend, but do nothing for you? The same is true for your Kurly Klips. Some sets will prefer certain products over others. Honestly, it’s all about finding the products and styling tools that work best for you.

So I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any questions. As always, I looooovvveeeee yooooouuuuuuu. And don’t forget to share this with a friend!

Love you!!!
