Every month, we highlight a superstar Kurly who is giving us serious hair envy. Meet Connor from Chicago, IL who owns two sets of the Mermaid Spirals. Find out the one thing she uses on her Kurly Klips to maintain a healthy blow-out.

FAVORITE PRODUCTS TO USE ON YOUR KURLY KLIPS?

I love using Trader Joes Tea Tree conditioner as a deep treatment! I also wash my extensions with the Trader Joe’s Tea Tree shampoo. The great thing about the products is they are natural and don’t contain any harsh ingredients that would adversely affect the hair!

When I use heat on the Klips I use a heat protectant! Tresemme has a wonderful spray! It’s light and doesn’t weigh down your extensions!

WHAT’S YOUR CARE ROUTINE?

I wash my Klips one a week (hello Sunday!). After washing I let them soak in the Trader Joe’s Tea Tree conditioner mixed with coconut oil for an hour. When I rise they are so soft and shiny! A great rule of thumb I’ve learned is to mimic my natural hair routine with my Kurly Klips routine!

ANY FAVORITE MEMORIES WHILE WEARING YOUR KURLY KLIPS?

I honestly can’t say I have just one! Everyday women of all races stop and tell me how much they love my hair! While it’s important for us to remember that our hair does not define who we are, who doesn’t love hearing how much someone loves their hair!? Kurly Klips are so versatile that there really isn’t a limit to how you can style them! Just use your imagination (and Lana’s amazing YouTube videos + blog)

ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO ADD?

Natural hair is worth it! I like like to think of it as a plant. You have to nourish it using products like coconut oil or those that don’t contain harsh chemicals and protect it by taking steps like protective styles or sleeping on a silk pillow it in order for it to grow. The natural hair journey is empowering and its liberating! Find a routine that works best for you and stick with it! It’s going to be different for everyone! One thing that I like to do is a “hair check.” Every 4 months I pull out a strand of hair from the same section to see the progress that’s being made! It helps me to realize I am coming closer to my “goal” and if I didn’t see as much progress as I would have liked then it’s the perfect time to take a step back and look over what I’ve done over the last four months and make any adjustments!

Thank you so much for being our March Kurly of the Month, Connor and I am LIVING for your blowout! I also love your tip about the “hair check.” So easy, yet informative in a very non-overwhelming way. That is so smart.
