Hair Extensions: they seem to be everywhere these days. From Hollywood to the office, they’ve become quite a common styling option for women across all walks of life. But with thousands of companies to choose from, how do you decide the best extensions for you? It’s not as difficult as you may think.

So you’ve finally decided to join us styling divas and you’re thinking about hair extensions. Welcome. Hair extensions have long been a style of choice, not just for girls with straight hair, but women of all hair textures.

If you’re a hair extension newbie, a quick google search regarding what type of hair extensions you should get can leave you more confused than when you started. Let’s take the complication out of extensions and get to the basics so you can spend less time figuring things out and more time rocking your fierce new hair.

1 - HOW DO YOU LIKE TO WEAR YOUR HAIR?

Before you jump in and start adding the first extensions you come across to your digital shopping cart, take some time to think about what you want out of your extensions. Are you looking for a long term protective style with limited access to your hair? Or are you looking for something more versatile that you can switch up on a daily or weekly basis? Do you want to eventually dye your extensions? What about heat style them? All of these questions are essential to answer before you start to do your research on hair extensions.

If you’re looking for a versatile style that you can change easily and still take care of your hair while wearing them, you definitely want to go with clip-in extensions like Kurly Klips. These extensions have snap clips sewn on to each weft of the extension. Wearing clip in extensions not only allows you have unlimited style options but you have easy access to maintain your natural hair as well.

 2 - DECIDE ON A TEXTURE

After you know what kind of style options you’re looking for, the next thing you want to think about is the texture of the extensions. If you’re going for clip-ins and will still be having your natural hair out you’ll want to find extensions that most closely match your hair type. When purchasing your extensions online try to work with companies that describe the texture of the hair so you know what you’re getting.

Take the the Kurly Klips hair extensions for example which are available in two textures, My Fro and My Spirals. You’ll notice that for each type we tell you which hair textures the extensions are most suited for. If you’re 4a/b/c kind of girl try the My Fro collection. 3b/c ladies will have a texture that is closer to the My Spirals collection.

3 - HOW WILL YOU STYLE THEM DAY TO DAY?

Once you know what type of hair extensions you’re looking for and you’ve decided on the texture, the last thing you need to think about is what you’re planning to do with the hair extensions. If you have every intention on dyeing your extensions you should be paying close attention to ensure the ones you purchase can be dyed.

And if you’re planning on flat ironing, blow drying, and curling your extensions than you absolutely should only be purchasing Remy hair (as if you’d buy anything else). Only the Kurly Klips natural black extensions can be dyed but since all of our hair is 100% Remy you can heat style, wash, and blow dry it as if it were your own.
